V.Learn 3 songs and 2 poems
Poem 1: “Where the rainbow ends” by Richard Rive
There is going to be a place, brother,
Where the world can sing all sorts of songs,
And we are going to sing together, brother,
You and I, though you are white and I am not.
It is going to be a sad song, brother,
Because we do not know the tune
And it is a difficult tune to learn.
But we can learn, brother, you and I.
There is no such tune as a black tune.
There is no such tune as a white tune.
There is only music, brother,
And it is music we are going to sing
We are the rainbow ends.
Poem 2: “Captains and Castaways” by Sally Ann Coggin
In fourteen hundred ninety two
This sailor sailed the ocean blue.
He left his home for unknown worlds
In three small ships, their sails unfurled.
Finding islands was his game,
Christopher Columbus was his name
Upon an island, left alone,
This outcast sailor made his home.
He sewed his clothes from skins of goats;
He grew his food, he built his boats.
A friend named Friday helped him do so;
Storybooks call him Robinson Crusoe.
